Clarke Caton Hintz is pleased to announce that the 164th Street Garage at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY has been selected as a National Design Award winner in the 49th Annual PCI Design Awards. The PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute) Design Awards program recognizes design excellence and construction quality using precast concrete.
The 164th Street Garage was part of the Yankee Stadium Area Redevelopment Project. The $280 Million overall project cost included the design, construction, improvement, maintenance and operation of approximately 10,000 spaces of public parking for patrons of the New Yankee Stadium on game days and the general public at other times. In total, there were three new parking structures and 4,000 new parking spaces created along with renovations to two existing parking structures.
The 164th Street Garage is located directly adjacent to the new Yankee Stadium. The garage provides the fourth main facade for the Stadium complex and serves to screen the loading and service areas. In addition, the site is confined by an historic allée of trees along 164th street. The resulting design is a narrow garage housing 660 cars distributed over 5 levels.
