The Hamilton Station Area Vision Plan sets forth a conceptual design
for the development of a mixed-use center on 250-acres adjacent to the
existing rail station. The advantages of access to Northeast Corridor
rail service as well as the interstate highway system via a full
interchange with I-295 create a unique opportunity for redevelopment
which will transform the rail station precinct.
The Vision Plan,
developed by the joint venture of Clarke Caton Hintz / Ehrenkratnz
Eckstut & Kuhn, provides a detailed concept for development of the
NJ Transit property. Among the key features of the plan for the site
are the following:
• A complementary and marketable mix of land
uses -- retail, office and residential -- which takes advantage of
available infrastructure and promotes transit use
• A walkable,
village-scale environment with mixed-use streets, a lively public
"transit commons" and a coordinated array of other pedestrian amenities
• An architecturally distinctive environment featuring a high quality of design and materials for buildings and public spaces
•
Accommodations for New Jersey Transit's existing 1,600-car commuter
parking requirement plus an additional 2,600 parking spaces to
accommodate anticipated growth
