While Interior Design Director at Alan Gaynor and Co., Marlyn Zucosky was responsible for the relocation and interior design of Smith New Court’s new offices. As one of London’s largest securities trading firms, creating an image was an important criterion for the project. This was achieved through the strong graphic design of the reception area and conference rooms. A three dimensional grid which contained indirect lighting, punctuated by a conical conference room and diagonal partition in the reception area, was created for maximum impact when visitors stepped off the elevator.
For flexibility, Smith New Court’s trading area was built entirely on raised flooring, utilizing the lastest technology available, including all the telecommunications infrastructure. Custom-designed trading desks were also provided so that as technology evolves they can be easily updated. This innovative design was a reflection of a true collaboration between the client and design team.
