The Ferdinand Roebling Mansion has been one of the last of the grand homes on West State Street that had not seen some level of restoration. It is also the last remaining home still standing in Trenton that is closely related to one of Trenton’s most famous families: the Roeblings.
The house is part of a local, state and national historic district and has been the subject of intense interest on the part of the local preservation community. Clarke Caton Hintz worked with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities and the Carodan Corporation to renovate and expand the existing building for reuse as offices for the League, and additional office space for lease. In addition, Clarke Caton Hintz assisted in obtaining a restoration grant from the NJ Historic Trust.
Clarke Caton Hintz developed a plan to renovate 7,500 sf of existing building space and then construct an addition of 14,500 sf. The intent of the renovation and addition is to provide efficient, attractive office space for the League and potential tenants, while taking advantage of the historic quality of the building, particularly the exterior and some of the remaining first floor spaces.
