The Franklin L. Williams Middle School is one of the first new community based schools to be built under New Jersey’s Abbott Program. This 3-story building can accommodate 900 students in grades six, seven and eight. In order to provide the most conducive learning environment, the school is organized on a “house” concept where students attend their core classes in a cluster of rooms, only leaving this area to exercise, study the arts or perform research. The school also functions as a community center, since it is designed to host activities when school is not in session.
