In recent years the downtown redevelopment of the City of Trenton and
its suburbs has created added need for commuter services. The area
surrounding the current rail station could not adequately meet the need
for commuter and business district parking. As a result the New Jersey
Transit embarked on a partnership with a local developer Nexus
Properties to build an 1,800-space parking garage adjacent to the
downtown railroad station. The site had been previously used for
surface parking.
