Calhoun Street Firehouse

Part of the North 25 Redevelopment plan, the Calhoun Street firehouse contains the fire department (Engine Company #1, Ladder Company #1) and anchors the redevelopment along Calhoun Street. Internally, three major sections of the building, the sleeping/office area, the living-dining area, and the apparatus room are grouped around a central sky-lit corridor for easy access to the vehicles.

The watch area has large glass areas for optimum view of both exterior and interior sections of the building. The apparatus room is three bays wide for the engine, the ladder and support vehicles, and has no intermediate supports.
